Flight PlansWe can prepare a plan with the coordinates of the flight lines or individual photo centers.
Flight ManagementToday's technology allows the integration of an air survey flight into a GIS system.
Development of Flight Maps
Flight lines for most projects are typically plotted on 1: 24,000 or 1: 100,000 USGS maps. We then digitize the flight line end points along with any necessary map details to form a digital flight plan. This plan is then entered into our GPS controlled flight management system. We also have the ability to prepare a flight plan when we are only provided the coordinates of the flight lines or individual photo centers. We can work with coordinates from practically all common coordinate systems. Generally we convert between UTM, Geodetic and U.S. State Plane systems. These capabilities allow us to photograph large projects without traditional hard-copy maps. At a minimum, each photo center coordinate can be imported to geo-referenced raster USGS maps to view the flight plan and cross check for errors. This digital map can be printed with a large format plotter to 36” x 48” for customer approval prior to executing the flight or for use in the aircraft during the photo mission. The digital map can also be used as a moving map in the aircraft when connected to the GPS output, thus replacing the need for a traditional hard copy map in the aircraft.
Air Survey Flight Management System
Today's technology allows the integration of an
air survey flight into a GIS system with both the execution and the results of
the flight. Our system is complete from the original flight planning to post
flight indexing of the actual photo centers taken during the flight.
